Linea 77 - Too Much Happiness Makes Kids Paranoid (2000)

Linea 77 from Turin, Italy who got their name from the bus line they all rode on, pump out some kick ass Slipknot style rap/metal/grind-core.  "Too Much Happiness Makes Kids Paranoid" is track after track of head-bobbin angst, even the couple of songs sung in Italian sound cool.  I can't wait to listen to this in my car at full blast!!

Nightstalker - Superfreak (2009)

If Black Sabbath every want a new singer they should give Nightstalker a call.  "Superfreak" is Nightstalker's 1st release on Meteor Records but it's their 5th studio recording since 1994 but!  This is 45+ minutes of some serious spaced out stoner rock with all the noticeable influences of Black Sabbath, Monster Magnet and Blue Oyster Cult on speed.

The Swamp Donkey – The Trouble With Crusades (2008)

Despite the strange name these guys are pretty good.  They would fit in perfectly on Small Stone Records due to their heavy Kyuss/Dozer fuzz rock sound.  But the one thing that helps them stand out more than some other bands is the ferocity of each of the six songs.  They start heavy and mean and end that way and that’s what I like to hear.

*2010-02-26 Update*
This album has grown on me a lot. It's got some heavy-ass riffs that puts it more on the side of Stoner Metal.  The singer's got a great voice that's accompanied by good rockin' sounds. I hate to say it but these guys have a sound that could be radio friendly on the right station.

Tracks:
1. The Trouble With Crusades
2. Ask A Dead Man
3. The Prophet
4. 18 Wheels
5. After All
6. Another Perfect Day

Crank County Daredevils - Kings of Sleaze (2005)

Just in case you didn't get the message from the trashy album cover and the album name, "Kings of Sleaze", the Crank County Daredevils are trashy mother fuckers.  With tracks like "Ride That Dog" and "Bitch Be Cool" these guys are every feminist worst nightmare.  I can picture Nikki Sixx saying,"these guys are my kind of scum".

Slipknot - 9.0 Live

Regardless of how much Stoner Metal, Stoner Rock, Speed Rock and other music I find on the web; I have yet to find anything that is more awesome and energetic that Slipknot's Live 9.0 album.  It's like pouring RedBull right in your eyes!!

Lazarus A.D. - The Onslaught (2007)

Here's some kick ass old school thrash metal for ya.  Lazarus A.D.'s 2007 release "The Onslaught" could have easily been released 20 years ago.  And if it were it would have been passed over due to the massive amount of thrash and speed metal bands being pumped out.  As an old school metal head I find it reassuring that there are some kids out there that have embraced metal without ruining it.

Ironweed - Indian Ladder (2009)

The first time I listened to this album I was not impressed because they sounded  like every other Stoner Rock band on Small Stone Records but a second listen opened my mind to Ironweed's heavier side.  The second go around caught me off-guard because I wasn't focusing on the music at all.  It was one of those situations where I listening to them while working on other stuff and it hit me.  "What the fuck am I listening to?  This is good stuff.  Holly shit it's Ironweed!"

Indian Ladder is an 55 minutes of Angry Stoner Rock with big heavy crunching riffs and lots of screaming.

Brand New Sin - Distilled (2009)

Brand New Sin's 2009 release "Distilled" is for lack of a better term a good fucking time!  This is the soundtrack to hot summer days and cruising up to the lake in rag-top1968 Chevy Chevell with you buddies.  And appropriately enough they have a tracked entitled "Summertime" which is about drinkin', smokin' and have a good fuckin' time.

Cycle of Pain - Cycle of Pain (2009)

Cycle of Pain is the band of the bassist John J.D. DeServios of Black Label Society.  It's pretty good stoner metal that is well worth listening to.  It's hard to not say this sounds like a BLS album which it does but it's different.  So if you like BLS than you'll like this as well.

Speedealer - Second Sight (2002)

Speedealer (once know as REO Speedealer) from Lubbock, TX churn out some crazy ass Thrash n' Roll that borders on punk, speed metal and stoner rock.  Second Sight is their 3rd release with 12 tracks that are like a kick in the nuts.
The title track "Second Sight" is a D.R.I. / Metallica assault while "All the Things You'll Never Be" sounds like Motorhead on a 8-Ball. On the 4th track "The Thin Air" Speedealer settles into a big-balled Stoner Metal/Rock jam of epic proportions.

Solace - The Black Black (2007)

Here's another heavy rockin' gem from Solace.  The Black Black is a 4 song EP that clocks in at just over 30 minutes but each songs packs a wallop of fuzzed out stoner metal that is very Black Sabbath sounding.

The first track, "Khan (World Of Fire)" starts off slow and brooding but quickly turns into a chugging monster riff jam that reminds me of Lo-Pans's "Dragline". "Destroy the Gift" is another slow burner that opens up the throttle at 1:18 and doesn't let up for 7 minutes with a jam that's a cross between The Allman Brothers and Slayer.  "The Devil's Clock" is a 13 minute epic of stoner doom.  And the last track, "World War" continues the doom with a heavy as groove that leaves you wanting more.

Ok why am I just now becoming aware of these guys?  WTF!   I have been missing out on some kick ass thrash metal.  Tight riffs, pounding drums that sound like a combination of Megadeth and Slayer with a healthy dose of hardcore on top.

Brain Police - Beyond The Wasteland (2008)

The Brain Police come from "the land of ice and snow" better know as Reykjavik, Iceland and they play kick ass Stoner Rock. They have all the makings of a great band, they've got fat fuzzy riffs layered on top of a solid drums with a singer with a cigarette and whiskey soaked voice that can growl, scream and even carry a tune.  The Brain Police crank out a mix of heavy, fuzzy, speed and aggressive tunes that remind me of Scissorfight.

These Icelandic rockers have been fuckin' it up since 1998 but it wasn't until 2005 that they exposed them selves to the world beyond their island home.  Beyond the Wasteland is their first release on Small Stone records which is a solid play it end-to-end album that gets better every time I listen to it.

Solace – Further (2000)

At first glace of the album cover my first thoughts were that this is another Nordic Black Metal band, to which I say no thanks. A few months later while lurking around last.fm I see that Solace has been labeled as "Stoner Rock". Really?

As the saying goes "you cannot judge a book by its' cover" and Solace is a shining example. Further has a Black Sabbath meets Alice in Chains stoned and grooving feel.

Tracks:
1. Man Dog
2. Black Unholy Ground
3. Followed
4. Whistle Pig
5. Hungry Mother
6. Angels Dreaming
7. Suspicious Tower
8. Heavy Birth / 2 Fisted
