I read about this band on one of the Skateboarding Web Mags and I spent months looking for their music. I guess I assumed that they were so obscure that they wouldn't be on eMusic but sho' 'nuff they were there right under my nose.
Nihilist cranks out no-holds-barred thrash metal that is in line with the campy styles of Municipal Waste and Austrian Death Machine. Their songs are about leather, beer, bitches and dead shit. What more is there?

I saw The Sword open for Metallica
in Jan 2009 at The Fleet Center in Boston and sadly at the time I didn't get it. They were playing loud slow and heavy jams when I was in the mood loud fast and heavy. A year later I finally got it and now wish I could go back to the Fleet Center to take it all in again. "Age of Winters
" sounds like the bastard child of "Master of Reality
" and "Ride the Lightning
" wearing an Orange Goblin t-shirt.

7Zuma7 - Deep Inside (1999) *UPDATED 2010-03-10*
When Deep Inside came out in 1999 it probably got over looked for sounding took much like Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet and the other usual
suspects. But when I listen to them today I can hear the similarities with other stoner bands but I can also hear their uniqueness.
This is some good shit man.

*UPDATE*
I did some price checking for this album and since it's an import and out of print a physical copy is going to be very very expensive. So if you do like it the MP3 version from eMusic could be bought for $11.99 for a 1 month subscription.

Assjack - AssJack (2009)
I finally got my hands on the first studio album from Hank Williams III's Hellbilly band, Assjack. This shit is out of fucking control. Don't be fooled this is a hardcore, thrash metal, punk album and IS NOT country in any way. The rhythm section maintain a fast rockabilly beat while the guitars lay down some fast thrash riffs with shouting vocals layered on top of it all that creates a frenzy of beautiful chaos. I love it!

Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican/The Law (2003 - Reissue)
Here's a blast from the past; Exhorder's Slaughter in the Vatican (1990) and The Law (1992) on one CD. These guys were commercially unsuccessful in the 90's most likely due to their less MTV friendly lyrics and musical style than their peers, Pantera.

Orange Goblin - Healing Through Fire (2007)
It took me a while to get into Orange Goblin but now that I have give "Healing Through Fire" a proper listen I am hooked. The OG are very Black Sabbathy but a lot faster and the singer has an awesome raspy voice that injects a southern vibe to their music. Each track chugs along a pace that sounds like it got go off the rails and out of control at any moment.

Reveille - Bleed the Sky (2001)
Here's an album and band I missed out on almost 10 years ago! (I was living/working in London at the time.) These guys make Limp Bizkit (who suck) sound like the Jonas Brothers (who should suck an exhaust pipe). The opening track "Unborn" is my favorite song on the album. It's got some crazy ass screaming, the signature driving rap metal beat and some lyrics that would make Kerry King proud. What's odd is that in the version of the song that I have it sounds like part of the 3rd verse that sound like they have been intentionally blanked out.
Listen to the clip:
And then song explodes into a hail screaming, moshing madness.
The lyrics in question are: "fucked jesus".
The rest of the album is just pretty good but "Unborn" is the stand out track.

Gama Bomb - Tales From The Grave In Space (2009)
I fucking love Thrash Metal!! I present to you Gama Bomb, a new(ish) thrash metal band throwing down some old school thrash metal. Spaceships, aliens, ninjas, witches, skeletons, ghosts, mummies and among other things Mussolini. "Tales from the Grave in Space" is a combination of Anthrax moshing, Iron Maiden screaming and Slayer's speed.

16 - Bridges to Burn (2009)
When ever I'm looking for something loud and heavy but not too fast I queue up 16's latest release "Bridges to Burn". Each track seems to flow perfectly into one another without any sharp transitions in tempo. Each track is just plain fucking heavy. Imagine Slayer playing at 1/2 their speed but maintaining a level of heaviness like Godzilla stepping on you tiny skull.

4Mag Nitrous - Southern Wisdom and Know-how (2009)
4Mag Nitrous hail from way down south in Louisiana and they play southern-fried Chopper Rock. Their music has been on the T.V. show Monster Garage with Jesse James which is exactly where their style of stoner/southern/rock/metal fits perfectly. My guy at the local record shop said that he couldn't get any of their music but I could buy it off of CDBaby. And that’s just what I did but what’s crazy is that “Southern Wisdom and Know-how” only cost me $1.00. That’s right, one U.S. Dollar for the whole album (9 tracks) or $0.99 per track for $8.91. I don’t know why or what or how but I bought it for a buck before they changed their minds.
I did find the album on eMusic but CDbaby has a much better deal hands down.
Oh, BTW - It’s totally worth the buck.
Genuflect - The End of the World (2007)
It's been 10 yeas since Rage Against The Machine released their last studio album "Renegades" (2000). Over the years the rumor-mill has hinted at reunions and what not but the former band members are busy with their own projects. This lack of any new material from RATM has left a hole in my life that has only been partially filed with RATM's 2003 release, "Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium". But last night while scouring the web I found a possible alternative for the hole in my life in the form of Genuflect. Genuflect has some members of the Boston band Reveille and have all the makings of the either the next RATM or at least a tasty alternative. They're pissed off at the world, they scream and they sound like RATM but with way more Metal than Funk. Some of the singing strays into some melodic crap (ala Linkin Park, who by the way suck donkey balls) which makes my asshole twitch and my blood boil with disgust. But their redeeming qualities of anti-fucking-everything, rage and heavy ass metal riffs allow me to over look this one fault.

Iron Age - The Sleeping Eye (2009)
A guy at my local record shop told me about these guys and I am forever in debt to him. Iron Age crank out some "Kill 'Em All"
style thrash metal with elements of stoner and doom. “The Sleeping Eye” is a solid thrash album with loads head banging riffs.

God Damn - Goddamn (2009)
The god damn French!! This is the second release form the French Power Metal outfit God Damn. In Feb 2009 they released "Old Days" and then in Dec 2009 they release "Goddamn" which is 7 tracks / 30 minutes of pure fucking power thrash. This is pretty much a bonus disc to "Old Days" just released 10 months later.

Municipal Waste - Massive Aggressive (2009)
Municipal Waste
is another one of my favorite "young" bands kicking out some old school style Thrash Metal. By "young" I mean that they were probably being conceived in the back-seat of a car when Anthrax released "Among the Living". Municipal Waste's two previous albums have a campy, poke fun at metal themes but on "Massive Aggressive" they seem to have taken a more serious approach. I wouldn't surprised if these guys started out as a D.R.I.
cover band, shit you could probably fool someone into thinking this is a "new" D.R.I.
album it so dead on.

Church Of Misery - Houses of the Unholy (2009)
There are quite a few Stoner Metal and Doom bands from Japan but Church of Misery is the only one I have found that sticks to the program of laying down serious Stoner Metal. "Houses of the Unholy" is 44 minutes long and made up of 7 tracks each of which is about a different Serial Killer/Psychopath. The opening track "El Padrino (Adolpho Constanzo)" starts off with a news reporter describing a horrific scene in Mexico where drug lord Adolpho Constanzo conducts ritualistic human sacrifices. One of the victims is an American college student whos severed head was found with the brain missing which is later found brewing in a cauldron at Constanzo's lair. Rob Zombie can't even make this kind of twisted shit up.
Musically "Houses of the Unholy" leans more towards the hardcore/punk than classic stoner metal with a lot of DOOOOOOMMMMMM!
It's a good heavy ass listen that I keep forgetting I have in my collection.

Hatebreed - For the Lions (2009)
On "For the Lions" Hatebreed pays homage to their musical influences by laying down some very well done covers. The thing I really like is that Hatebreed covered the lesser know tracks that let's you know that actually put some thought into the album and didn't just throw together songs that everybody would knows.
